Founded on the principle that science and innovation should be part of a global exchange, we work to ensure that ideas and solutions flow freely across borders, disciplines, and cultures. Our mission is to foster sustainability in water, food systems, and education while empowering ecosystems to not just survive but thrive.
Nucleus is the natural evolution of JNP Fiji Limited (2014–2020), a consultancy that made a tangible impact in sustainable water management, environmental microbiology, and community capacity building. Today, based in the Netherlands, Nucleus carries this legacy forward through international partnerships, research-driven solutions, and a deep respect for the interconnectedness of people and nature.
Much like a biological nucleus, we serve as the central hub where scientific knowledge is refined, adapted, and shared. We empower communities with tools and training, blending cutting-edge research with local wisdom to develop impactful, nature-based solutions.

Our Founder
Dr. Natacha Juste-Poinapen
Founder & Lead Scientist
Dr. Juste-Poinapen is a microbial ecologist and environmental scientist with a PhD in Microbial Ecology from the University of Queensland and an MSc in Molecular and Cell Biology from the University of Cape Town. With a deep understanding of water quality, microbial systems, and sustainability, she is known for designing innovative experimental approaches to solve pressing ecological problems.
As former head of JNP Fiji and current Lead Scientist at Oyster Heaven, Dr. Juste-Poinapen brings decades of experience leading research in marine ecosystem restoration, microbial ecology, and environmental policy. Through her leadership, Nucleus champions the application of science in practical, accessible, and community-centered ways.
